PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jie Liu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Xavier might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mountain Song. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Liu.
Liu scoring well with a low kick there.
Liu scores with a jab.
Liu attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Liu lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Xavier on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Liu. Liu obviously looking to wear him down.
Liu misses with a low kick.
Liu connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Xavier uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Liu.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Xavier moves out of range of the body kick.
Liu motions for Xavier to come forward. Liu throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Liu's corner calls for a 1-2. Liu obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Liu tries a low kick but Xavier avoids it.
Liu thumps Xavier with a low kick.
Xavier misses the shot to the body.

Xavier fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Xavier dives in and scores a takedown into Liu's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Liu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Xavier wants to control from the top but Liu keeps moving.
Xavier passes Liu's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Liu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Xavier is working away from the top position though.

Liu slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Liu has his foot on Xavier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Xavier works his way back into a safe position though.
Liu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Xavier wants to control from the top but Liu keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Xavier accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Xavier trying to control the position from guard on top but Liu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Xavier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Xavier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Liu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Liu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Xavier manages to get himself to full guard.
Liu lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Liu is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Xavier has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Liu is looking to defend but Xavier has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Liu! Xavier pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Liu taps out and this one is all over!
