Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes into the arena with Til I Collapse blaring out of the sound system. Michael Jones acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, DJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Jones!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Penn waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones.
Penn misses with a shot to the body
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Penn.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Penn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Penn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Penn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Penn's guard.

Jones preventing the sweep.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.
Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Penn's head.
Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jones throws an elbow that misses. Penn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Penn!

Jones keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

Penn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.
Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Penn is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Penn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Jones puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Penn is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penn is in trouble now - Jones has advanced to mount!

Penn is trying desperately to improve position.
Jones landing strikes from the mount.

Jones is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Penn has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Penn!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Penn is controlling him.

Penn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones is in trouble now - Penn has advanced to mount!

Penn goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jones turns into him and now he's in Penn's guard.

Penn looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.

Jones working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Penn looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Penn is trying to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple.

Jones looks to land a strike but Penn avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Penn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jones!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Penn mounts Jones! Really nice guard pass there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that DJ Penn will probably get the nod.

Penn leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penn sprawls well. Penn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Penn misses with a body punch.
Penn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

Penn prevents a takedown attempt there.

Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Penn avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Penn lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Jones.
Jones swings wildly with an uppercut but Penn uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Penn gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jones has Penn pressed against the cage.

Penn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Penn misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Penn wants to break free but Jones has control.
Penn tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.
Penn is trying to push Jones away but Jones has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Penn swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Jones swings away with a body shot that misses
and Penn counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jones moves forwards but Penn connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Penn looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Penn thuds a left hand into Jones's body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Penn bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Penn looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.
Jones throws a body punch but Penn moves out of range.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Nice straight punches there by Jones. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Jones.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Penn defends it nicely.
Penn throws a body kick that misses.
Jones throws the left hand but Penn avoids the punch easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
DJ Penn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Penn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
