PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Villa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen disturbed - down with the sickness as his entrance music. Chuck Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Villa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gracie shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Villa eats them both and turns towards Gracie to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Rafael Villa has been cut.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gracie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Villa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gracie connects with a right hand. Villa shakes it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Villa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gracie catches Villa napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Villa to the canvas!


Villa is rocked!
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Villa is keeping the position for now.
Oh Villa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Villa has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Villa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Villa seems to have got his legs back now.
Gracie is fighting to break Villa's control of his arms but Villa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Villa pushes Gracie off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Villa gets a takedown into half guard.

Gracie actively working from the bottom here.
Villa moves into full mount! Gracie won't be happy about that!
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Villa's attempts to control the action.
Gracie is working to get back to half guard.
Villa controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie working to try and regain half guard.
Villa throwing strikes but Gracie recovers to half guard. A much better position.
Villa trying to control from half guard but Gracie is working away.
Gracie tries to roll over but Villa keeps him under control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Villa is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Villa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rafael Villa just wasn't active enough.
Villa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gracie swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rafael Villa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Villa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Villa is in Gracie's guard.

Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gracie working for a triangle but Villa defends it easily.
Villa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Villa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Villa passes into half guard.
Villa trying to control from half guard but Gracie is working away.
Gracie tries to roll over but Villa keeps him under control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Villa is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Villa is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Gracie dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rafael Villa's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Villa moves out of range as Gracie throws a body kick.
Villa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Villa slips a jab and a cross from Gracie.

enabling Gracie to counter with a crisp jab.
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gracie lands a jab to the nose.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Gracie counters with a huge right that knocks Villa out cold! Gracie is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Chuck Gracie!
Chuck Gracie decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
