Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aarne Virtanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Chankin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Chankin's choice of entrance music: medieval battle. Andre Chankin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aarne Virtanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andre Chankin!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Virtanen throws a combination. Chankin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Chankin keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Chankin moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Virtanen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chankin, pushing him back against the cage.

Chankin pulls guard successfully.
Chankin wants to sweep but no luck.
Chankin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Virtanen!

Chankin goes for an armbar but Virtanen turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Virtanen.

Chankin thowing shots but they're missing.
Chankin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Virtanen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Chankin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Virtanen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Virtanen wants to control but Chankin is keeping busy.
Chankin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chankin doesn't manage to clinch there - Virtanen circles away.
Virtanen swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Chankin.
Virtanen tries to clinch up but Chankin circles away and keeps his distance.

Chankin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Virtanen avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Chankin.

Chankin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chankin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Chankin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Virtanen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Virtanen shrugs it off.

Chankin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Virtanen is looking to escape.

Virtanen bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Virtanen is fighting to break Chankin's control of his arms but Chankin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andre Chankin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Chankin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Virtanen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chankin has a takedown stuffed.
Chankin blocks a head kick by Virtanen.

Andre Chankin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Chankin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Virtanen to the ground. Chankin is now in Virtanen's guard.

Chankin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Virtanen dives on top into guard.

Virtanen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Virtanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chankin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Virtanen stops Chankin from standing up.
Virtanen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chankin's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Virtanen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Chankin wriggles free and stands up.
Chankin misses with a kick to the body.
Chankin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Virtanen wants to clinch up but Chankin keeps it at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Virtanen lands a left hand that snaps the head of Chankin backwards.
Virtanen is trying to break the clinch but Chankin is controlling him.
Chankin has Virtanen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Virtanen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Aarne Virtanen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Chankin.

Virtanen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Virtanen throws a series of strikes that have Chankin backpedaling.

Virtanen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Andre Chankin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chankin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Virtanen as he avoids it easily.

I think Chankin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
