Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Stien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ben Stien enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bret Hart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Stien!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hart checks a low kick from Stien.
Stien paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Stien throws a hook but Hart avoids it easily.
Hart avoids the body shot from Stien.
Stien scores with a jab to the head.
Hart with a lazy takedown attempt
and Stien counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hart thinking.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hart gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Stien counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hart avoids the body shot from Stien.
Stien tries a head kick but it misses.
Ben Stien is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A slow jab from Stien misses its intended target.
Stien scores with a hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stien moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Hart goes down! Can Stien finish him!?


Hart is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stien with a nice head shot there.
Oh Hart is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stien must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hart looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hart seems to have got his legs back now.
Hart controls Stien momentarily but Stien frees himself.
Stien trying to control but Hart is working from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hart holds on and takes a little breather.

Stien is looking to work some ground and pound but Hart has wrist control.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stien's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stien chips away with some ground and pound.
Stien trying to control but Hart is working from the bottom.

Hart has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stien can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stien keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hart's head.
Hart preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stien chips away with some ground and pound.
Stien throwing strikes from guard but Hart blocks nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stien controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hart is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Hart trying to keep a closed guard but Stien is proving a slippery customer.
Stien trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stien stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hart swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stien shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hart eats them both and turns towards Stien to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Stien dominated that round.
That's time! Hart's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Stien catches Hart napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Hart to the canvas!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stien trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hart is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Stien really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stien postures up in Hart's guard and throws a big left but Hart blocks it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stien's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hart keeping moving, preventing Stien from controlling successfully.
Hart working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stien.
Hart lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stien!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stien can't escape the position.
Stien is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Stien is trying to escape the mount.
Hart trying to control but Stien is having none of it.
Stien is looking to improve his position but Hart isn't that keen on the idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stien is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hart sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hart lands a heavy elbow.
Stien can't escape the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stien can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stien sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stien is refusing to be controlled, as Hart sits in half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hart passes into side control, despite Stien's attempt to control the position.
Sloppy strikes there by Hart.

Hart is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stien knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stien tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hart controls the position.
Stien is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Stien showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nice defenses there by Hart.
Stien thuds his right hand into Hart's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Stien loads up on a big right hand but Hart slips the punch.
Stien looks to score with a jab to the body but Hart is just out of range.
Ben Stien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stien throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hart defending well as Stien loads up on a big left hand.
Jab, jab by Stien - just one landing.
Hart shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hart ducks under a wild hook from Stien.
Nice defenses there by Hart.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stien jabs Hart right on the nose. Hart blinks but takes it well.
Hart doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Stien counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Stien swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stien getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Hart showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stien.
Hart shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stien as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Hart. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Hart or perhaps it was just good defense by Stien which made him look bad.

Hart shoots and misses
and Hart takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Stien goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hart uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stien.
Stien ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bret Hart has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stien throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ben Stien comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stien has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
