PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dewey Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Guilty As Charged. Koch has chosen Cradle to Grave - Beheaded in Paris as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dewey Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Koch!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koch throws a nice looking combination but Cox bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Koch scores with a three punch combo!
Koch swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Koch takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A combination from Koch does no damage.
Nice defenses there by Cox.
Koch misses the shot to the body.
Koch misses the shot to the body.

Cox closes the distance and pushes Koch back into the cage.
Koch can't find room to land a body shot as Cox controls the action.
Cox can't get the takedown.
Koch lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Koch is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Cox changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Koch fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Cox tries to move into range but Koch moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cox fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Koch to the ground. Cox is now in Koch's guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Cox postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Koch is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cox swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Koch throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cox is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Koch advances to half guard.

Koch is working for a kimura but Cox is defending it quite comfortably.
Koch wants to take a breather but Cox is having none of it.

Cox pushes Koch off looking to stand but Koch dives back in and keeps control.

Koch throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cox is controlling Koch's trapped leg to prevent Koch from advancing to side control.
Cox tries to roll over but Koch keeps him under control.
Koch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Koch is trying to control the action in half guard but Cox is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Koch dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Koch lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Dewey Cox has been cut.
Koch lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Koch wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Koch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Koch wants it to stay on the feet.
Some bone on bone action there as Koch checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Koch throws a lazy right hand but Cox sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cox takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Koch throws a looping overhand right but Cox ducks down to avoid it.
Cox bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jab, jab by Koch - just one landing.


Cox is rocked!
Cox switches off momentarily and Koch cracks him with a monster right hand! Cox topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Koch dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Koch!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Koch!
During a confident post fight interview, Michael Koch thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
