Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emerson Montain!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montain tries for a takedown but Emelianenko circles away easily
and Emelianenko counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Emelianenko swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Montain.

Emelianenko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Emelianenko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Emelianenko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Montain manages to avoid it.

Emelianenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Emelianenko is on top in guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Montain manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Emelianenko manages to get himself to full guard.
Montain slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Emelianenko misses with a few strikes there.
Emelianenko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Emelianenko wants it to stay on the feet.
Montain tries to score a power double leg takedown but Emelianenko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Montain somewhat.

Fedor Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emerson Montain.

Emelianenko scores with a one two! Montain had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Emelianenko closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Montain quickly recovers to half guard.

Montain is staying active underneath Emelianenko, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Emelianenko here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Emelianenko looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Montain with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Emelianenko seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Montain is looking to escape.
Emelianenko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Montain does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Emelianenko moves into full mount! Montain won't be happy about that!

Emelianenko is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Montain goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Emelianenko!
