Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Dread (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in for a takedown but Dread shows good takedown defense.

Dread clinches up against the cage.
Dread lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

It looks like Tom King has been cut.

Dread escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dread tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but King swivels and escapes.
King moves to clinch but Dread breaks away
and Dread counters with a nice body kick.

Dread has taken the fight to the clinch.

Dread wants the takedown. King is fighting it off but Dread persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in King's guard against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dread.

That has opened up Tom King's cut even more.
King tries for a takedown but Dread sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Dread tries to close the distance and clinch up but King swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dread will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's time! Dread's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Dread dives in and grabs King's left leg, looking for a takedown. King pushes down on Dread's head and hops out.
King throws a series of punches but Dread moves out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! King crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dread - the referee stops the clock and King gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dread. King manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

King misses with a takedown attempt - Dread sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Dread breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

King feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King wants to control but Dread is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dread throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Dread finishes the takedown easily into guard.

King pushes Dread off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

King throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dread.
Dread keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dread tries to close the distance and clinch but King swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Horrible takedown by Dread or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

Dread closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming King to the mat! King manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King wants to get back to his feet.

Dread has control of an arm but King manages to advance to Dread's back!
King is trying to stick to Dread's back but Dread is turning into King. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in King's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dread.

Dread got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dread has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
