Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Soo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Casseday! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soo misses with a takedown attempt - Casseday sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Soo scores with a head kick.
Soo throws a sloppy head kick and Casseday moves out of range easily. Soo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Casseday but Casseday pushes him off and we're back to square one. Soo gets a clinch. Casseday lands a right hand. Soo looking to stall.
Soo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Soo manages to end up in side control. Casseday wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Casseday is not content to let Soo control the position. Soo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Soo wants to control but Casseday is keeping him busy. Soo is really struggling to control Casseday but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Casseday sneaks back into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Casseday actively working from the bottom here. Casseday wants to improve his position but Soo is controlling well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Soo swings for the body but Casseday moves out of range.
Soo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Casseday looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Casseday tries to get back to half guard but can't. Casseday is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Casseday manages to work his way to half guard, despite Soo's best efforts. Casseday trying to hold on to Soo's head to control him but Soo postures up.

Soo is breathing heavily. Casseday tries to get to full guard but Soo has control of the leg.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Soo thuds his shin into the meat of Casseday's side. Casseday misses with a double jab.
Soo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Soo prevents Casseday from improving his position. Soo controlling the action here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Casseday wants to control but Soo is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Casseday takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Soo wants to control from the top but Casseday keeps moving. Soo postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Soo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Casseday controls his leg. Soo wants to pass to mount but Casseday is defending the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Soo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Casseday controls his leg.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Soo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Casseday tries to avoid it but Soo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Casseday to the ground. Casseday escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Soo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Soo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Soo wants to control but Casseday is keeping him busy. Soo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Soo is pressing down on Casseday's thigh, looking to free his foot. Casseday is holding on for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Soo dominated that round. That's time! Soo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Soo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Casseday scores with a one two! Soo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Soo scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Casseday throws a sloppy head kick and Soo counters with a takedown into side control. Soo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Casseday keeps working. Soo stands up. Soo drives through with a takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Soo looking to sit in guard and control but Casseday gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Soo is trying to control the position but Casseday postures up. Casseday won't allow Soo to get back to his feet. Casseday working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Soo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Casseday pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Soo is keeping the position for now. Soo trying to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Soo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Soo is rocked! Casseday lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Soo is looking to close the distance but Casseday sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Soo crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Soo is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
