Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barristan Selmy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gurit Singh!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Selmy moves out of range as Singh strikes.
Singh throws an overhand right that lands on Selmy's shoulder, as Selmy tries to avoid the shot.
Selmy misses with a hook. Singh ducked under it nicely.
Good work by Selmy as he checks the leg kick.
Singh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Selmy.
Barristan Selmy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singh throws a predictable looking body shot

and Selmy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Selmy thows a huge punch but Singh dodges it nicely.
Selmy trying to mount his opponent but Singh defends it.
Singh wants to get back to full guard.
Singh avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Selmy.
Selmy throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Selmy moves nicely into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sloppy strikes there by Selmy.
Singh gets back to half guard.
Selmy prevents Singh from improving his position.
Singh is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Selmy scores with a couple of nice shots.
Selmy is keen to just control but Singh is a slippery customer.
Selmy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Singh can do anything to dispel that myth.
Selmy lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Selmy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Selmy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Singh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Selmy is trying to work for a kimura but Singh is defending well.
Singh blocking the ground and pound attempt from Selmy.
Selmy is looking to take a break and control but Singh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Singh is trying to control but can't.

Singh tries to get to full guard but Selmy has control of the leg.
Singh wants to control but Selmy is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Selmy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Singh has managed to free his arm - good work.

It looks like Gurit Singh has been cut.
Selmy thows a huge punch but Singh dodges it nicely.
Selmy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Singh keeps working.
Singh is looking to control Selmy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Singh avoid being mounted?

Selmy missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Selmy works his foot free and advances to mount.
Singh is squirming around, avoiding Selmy's attempts to control the action.
Selmy in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Singh tries to reverse the position but Selmy maintains control.
Selmy landing strikes, looking to finish!


The cut above Gurit Singh's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gurit Singh's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Barristan Selmy!
