Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Schmelzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duarte Madeiros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madeiros manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schmelzer on his heels. He'll look to pass Schmelzer's guard now, I'm sure.
Madeiros wants to control from the top but Schmelzer keeps moving.
Madeiros drops back looking for a leg! Schmelzer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schmelzer manages to kick Madeiros off! Madeiros jumps back into Schmelzer's guard.
Schmelzer wants to stand but Madeiros is controlling the position.
Madeiros thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Madeiros trying to control but Schmelzer is working from the bottom.
Madeiros pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Schmelzer is keeping the position for now.
Schmelzer keeping moving, preventing Madeiros from controlling successfully.
Madeiros drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Madeiros jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Schmelzer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Madeiros drops back looking for a leg! Schmelzer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schmelzer manages to kick Madeiros off! Madeiros jumps back into Schmelzer's guard.
Madeiros drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Madeiros seems to have locked his on tight now - Schmelzer screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Madeiros, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Duarte Madeiros!
Duarte Madeiros decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
