The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark throws out a loose jab but McKendrick uses good head movement to avoid it.
A slow jab from Stark misses its intended target.
Stark tried to score with a low kick but McKendrick checks it.
Nice defenses there by Stark.
Stark misses with a straight right.
Stark lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Stark tries to bum rush McKendrick with a series of wild strikes but McKendrick uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stark lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McKendrick circles away quickly and effectively.

C G Stark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stark throws a front kick aimed at McKendrick's knee but McKendrick avoids it well.

Stark rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McKendrick moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McKendrick misses with a wild combination.
McKendrick looks to land a combination but Stark avoids it well.
Stark throws a lazy right hand but McKendrick sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
McKendrick tries to bum rush Stark with a series of wild strikes but Stark uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stark connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
McKendrick avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McKendrick tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Stark moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Stark leaves McKendrick with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McKendrick misses the shot to the body.
McKendrick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McKendrick gets a double leg takedown into Stark's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

McKendrick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stark swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKendrick looking to sit in guard and control but Stark gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stark is looking to stand up but McKendrick won't let him.
Stark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McKendrick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McKendrick is looking for a triangle here but Stark uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McKendrick tries to bench press Stark off him but Stark keeps the position.

Stark decides to stand back up. Stark steps back and let's McKendrick get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McKendrick walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
C G Stark is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

No joy there for McKendrick, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stark lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McKendrick has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McKendrick and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and McKendrick counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stark won't be happy with that.
McKendrick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stark keeps working.

McKendrick is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stark has escaped the position, nice work there.

McKendrick tries to score with some ground and pound. Stark controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

McKendrick creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Stark sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
McKendrick has knee on belly and moves into mount.

McKendrick goes for an armbar but Stark turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Stark.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stark wanted to stand there but McKendrick had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Luke McKendrick will probably get the nod.

McKendrick bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stark can't keep his opponent in guard - McKendrick advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

McKendrick is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Stark is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
