Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Takaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and I Shiv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takaya comes to the cage accompanied by Jimi Hendrix - All along the Watchtower. Shiv has chosen Calcutta as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yoshihiro Takaya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, I Shiv!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Shiv.
Shiv chopping away at his opponent's legs.
No joy there for Shiv, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Takaya lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shiv circles away quickly and effectively.
Takaya throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shiv counters with a body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shiv. Takaya does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shiv goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Takaya will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shiv throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Takaya swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Takaya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Shiv is looking to land body kicks.
I Shiv seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takaya takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
I Shiv is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Takaya connects with a body shot that sends Shiv's belly button to the back.
Shiv throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shiv fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shiv scores with a shot to the body.
Shiv scores with a kick to the body.
Shiv fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Takaya looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Shiv lands a front kick.
Takaya is breathing heavily.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Takaya looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shiv buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shiv is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Takaya rather than just go for the knockout.
Shiv tries to land a front kick but Takaya steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A big right from Takaya misses.
Shiv tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takaya was well out of range. Poor timing from Shiv.
Shiv throws a solid leg kick but Takaya takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Shiv.
Takaya misses with a lunging right hand
and Shiv counters with a thumping low kick.
Takaya looks to land a left hand but Shiv moved out of range nicely.

Shiv rushes Takaya and presses him up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shiv lands an elbow inside.
Shiv working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Shiv lands a nice shot to the body.
Shiv gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Takaya.
Takaya goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Shiv is pushing Takaya up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Shiv looking to throw knees to the head but Takaya is blocking nicely.
Shiv is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Takaya tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Shiv presses Takaya against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Shiv is trying to stall.
A left hand lands to the body for Shiv.
Takaya blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Shiv unloads a knee to the mid-section. Takaya lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Takaya lands with a right to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Takaya tries to work over Shiv's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Shiv works on Takaya's body with a couple of short punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Takaya stalling against the cage.
Shiv blocks a punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

I Shiv dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Takaya misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shiv cracks the inside of Takaya's front leg.
Shiv lands a nice leg kick that just misses Takaya's sensitive parts.
Shiv is looking to slow Takaya down with leg kicks.
Takaya walks forward, straight into a front kick from Shiv.
Shiv lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Some wild striking there from Shiv.
Shiv goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shiv looks to land a left hand but Takaya moved out of range nicely.

Shiv connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Shiv jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Shiv avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Shiv cracks the inside of Takaya's front leg.
Shiv lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takaya circles away quickly and effectively.

Shiv lands a big head kick that sends Takaya tumbling to the mat! Shiv takes a step backwards and waves Takaya back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Oh Takaya is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shiv connects with a right that clearly hurt Takaya. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Shiv proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Takaya collapses and taps out under the pressure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). I Shiv!
