Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad Tepes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morris comes to the cage accompanied by Heartbeats. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tepes's choice of entrance music: uncle otis- the game. Desmond Morris could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Vlad Tepes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Desmond Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vlad Tepes!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morris darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Morris lands strikes from half guard.

Morris is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tepes tries to get to full guard but Morris has control of the leg.

Morris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tepes is just riding it out for now. Morris eventually gives up the hold.
Morris is thwarting Tepes's attempts to control the position.
Tepes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Morris.
Morris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tepes's head.
Morris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tepes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Morris is working away from the top position though.

Morris working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Tepes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morris manages to get himself to full guard.
Tepes wants to stand but Morris is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tepes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Morris has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tepes has managed to get both his arms back between Morris's legs - danger averted.

Morris has an active guard here but Tepes has managed to pass into half guard.

Tepes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Tepes is nestled in close to Morris, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.


It looks like Desmond Morris has been cut.
Tepes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Tepes wants to control the pace but Morris is squirming around nicely.

Tepes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Morris can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Morris is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris is looking for a sweep. Tepes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Morris can't keep his opponent in guard - Tepes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tepes seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Morris looking for submissions off his back.
Tepes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Tepes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Morris is trying to control but Tepes passes into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morris is looking to regain half guard here but Tepes keeps moving and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Desmond Morris will probably get the nod.

Morris shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Tepes takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Desmond Morris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tepes looks to score with a jab to the body but Morris is just out of range.
Tepes takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Morris lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morris throws a low kick, looking for Tepes's leg but Tepes calmly moves out of range.

Tepes gets tackled into the cage by Morris. Morris maintains the clinch.

Morris scores with a nice hook to the head.
Tepes avoids a wild elbow strike from Morris.

Tepes is trying to break free.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tepes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tepes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tepes throws a quick inside leg kick.
Tepes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Morris. That did some damage!

Desmond Morris's cut is getting worse.
Tepes feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Morris's calf.

Tepes wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Good leg kick by Tepes there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tepes's corner calls for a 1-2. Tepes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Tepes thows a body shot but no joy.
Tepes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Tepes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Tepes sizes up Morris with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


Desmond Morris's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Tepes misses with a body shot.
Morris on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Tepes lands a leg kick that knocks Morris off balance momentarily.
Tepes scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Morris doesn't seem bothered though.
Tepes throws a low kick but Morris avoids it.
Morris takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Tepes lands a nice looking body shot.
Tepes moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Morris throws out a loose jab but Tepes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tepes throws a leg kick which misses Morris's front leg but catches the back leg as Morris tries to avoid it.

Vlad Tepes seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Tepes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Morris looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Tepes is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Morris rather than just go for the knockout.
Tepes connects with a leg kick. Morris looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Morris is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Tepes moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Tepes lands with an uppercut that bounces Morris off the cage and back into range.


Jeez, Desmond Morris's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Tepes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

In his post fight interview, Vlad Tepes started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
