PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Wrassle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wojtek Svalbard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wojtek Svalbard was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Wrassle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wojtek Svalbard!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svalbard gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wrassle to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Wrassle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Svalbard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wrassle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Svalbard is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Wrassle content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Svalbard looking to control.
Wrassle makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wrassle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Svalbard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wrassle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Svalbard is trying to keep Wrassle in close.
Wrassle trying to control the position from guard on top but Svalbard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wojtek Svalbard.
Svalbard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wrassle stuffs the takedown.

Wrassle shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Svalbard napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Svalbard is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wrassle's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Svalbard wants to improve his position but Wrassle is controlling well.
Wrassle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Wrassle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.


It looks like Wojtek Svalbard has been cut.
Svalbard keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Wrassle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Svalbard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wrassle is working away from the top position though.
Wrassle sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Svalbard defending well though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wrassle wants to pass to mount but Svalbard is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wrassle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Svalbard trying to hold on to Wrassle's head to control him but Wrassle postures up.
Wrassle throwing shots but Svalbard is blocking nicely.

Wrassle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Svalbard defends it well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Svalbard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Svalbard.
Wrassle postures up.
Svalbard is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Wrassle postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Svalbard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wrassle defends it easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Wrassle has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Svalbard to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Wrassle is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Svalbard pulls down on the head and he's put Wrassle to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Wojtek Svalbard!
