The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ayla avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ayla uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Warden.
Ayla misses with a low kick.
Warden fails with a takedown attempt.
Timo Ayla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Warden or perhaps it was just good defense by Ayla which made him look bad.
Warden stuffs the takedown attempt from Ayla. Ayla gets slowly back to his feet.
Ayla misses with a head kick.
Ayla misses the jab.
Warden looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ayla is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ayla stuns Warden with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Warden throws a head kick that misses.
Ayla misses with a jab, cross combination.
Warden takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Ayla throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Ayla has taken the fight to the clinch.
Warden lands a nice elbow.

Warden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Warden shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Warden is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ayla defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warden is trying to work for a kimura but Ayla is defending well.
Warden prevents Ayla from standing back up.

Warden seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Warden wants to get back to his feet.
Ayla connecting with a few gentle strikes.
Warden not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ayla is looking for a sweep. Warden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ayla moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ayla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Warden stands and steps away. Ayla gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Warden shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Timo Ayla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Warden.
Ayla throws a leg kick but Warden sees it coming and moves out of range.
Good leg kick by Ayla there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Warden wants to clinch up but Ayla keeps it at a distance.
Warden dodges the punch combination from Ayla.
Warden fails with the takedown.

Ayla shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Warden makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Warden.
Warden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Warden trying to keep a closed guard but Ayla is proving a slippery customer.
Ayla has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Warden is proving hard to escape from.

A close round but Jason Warden will probably get the nod.

Warden tries to clinch but Ayla is having none of it.
Ayla throws a right and a left that Warden avoids nicely.
Whack! Warden lands a heavy head kick that drops Ayla. The ref tackles Warden to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Ayla was done.
