PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiwi Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bird has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cesar Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 49 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kiwi Bird!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and clinches.
Bird has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Silva successfully pulls guard.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bird manages to get himself to full guard.
Silva engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bird for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Silva throwing strikes from guard but Bird blocks nicely.

Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Silva tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bird looks gassed!
Silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Silva stands up and beckons Bird to his feet.

Oooooh!!! Silva has knocked Bird down with a huge combo! Silva steps away and waves a wobbly Bird back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Kiwi Bird is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Silva has cracked Bird with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Silva lands another huge swinging hook and Bird tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Bird, before Silva can land any more shots!
