The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Alves.
Nixon buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A big left from Nixon misses.
Alves throws a leg kick
and Nixon counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Nixon clinches with his opponent.

Alves works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Nixon wants to sweep but no luck.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves wants to control from the top but Nixon keeps moving.
Nixon has momentary wrist control but Alves slips an elbow through the middle.
Alves in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Alves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nixon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nixon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
