PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Malone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rile Nokea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nokea tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Malone swivels and escapes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Malone trying to stall but Nokea improves his position.
Nokea tries to pull guard but Malone holds him up against the ropes and eventually Nokea drops back down to his feet.
Malone lands an elbow inside that Nokea shrugs off.
Nokea drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dustin Malone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rile Nokea.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Malone.

Nokea lands a left hand that snaps the head of Malone backwards.
Malone trying to control the position but instead, Nokea has worked for underhooks and has pushed Malone into the ropes.

Malone is pressed up against the ropes. Nokea has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Malone down to the mat. Malone avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Malone gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nokea.

Nokea ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nokea no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Malone tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Nokea tries to keep at a distance but Malone has taken the fight into the clinch.

Nokea manages to pull guard.

Nokea working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Malone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Malone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nokea wants to sweep but no luck.
Malone trying to control the position from guard on top but Nokea is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Malone's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Malone is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Nokea has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Malone is looking to defend but Nokea has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Malone! Nokea pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Malone taps out and this one is all over!
