The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid walks into a stiff left hand from Marconi.
Kid doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Marconi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kid clinches up against the cage.
Kid has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Marconi after a bit of a struggle.
Marconi scores with a hook to the body.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

It looks like Fireball Kid has been cut.

Marconi throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kids head.

Marconi scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Kid tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Marconi avoids it.
Kid has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Marconi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Marconi tries to throw a body punch but Kid avoids it by throwing Marconi back against the cage.
Kid is trying to drag Marconi to the mat but Marconi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kid swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kid tries to score a body lock takedown but Marconi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kid is looking to break free of the clinch but Marconi has double underhooks.

Marconi prevents a takedown attempt there.
Marconi lands a hook to the side of the head.
Marconi presses Kid against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

After the fight, Manlio Marconi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
