Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juanito Sandoval!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Steele!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandoval throws an overhand right that lands on Steele's shoulder, as Steele tries to avoid the shot.
Sandoval tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steele swivels and escapes.
Sandoval stuffs the takedown attempt from Steele. Steele gets slowly back to his feet.
Steele shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sandoval pinned against the cage. Sandoval gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sandoval keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Juanito Sandoval has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Steele.
Sandoval lands a right hook to the body.

Steele dives in and grabs Sandoval's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sandoval pushes down on Steele's head and hops out.

and Steele counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sandoval has Steele pulled in close to control his posture.

Steele is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Steele working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Steele throws an elbow that misses. Sandoval uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Steele's guard. Nice move by Sandoval!

Steele is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sandoval stays in close to Steele's body and controls the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Juanito Sandoval wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Steele counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sandoval's guard now.

Steele wants to pass the guard but Sandoval is keeping the position.
Sandoval looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steele is one step ahead there.
Steele looking to sit in guard and control but Sandoval gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sandoval is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Juanito Sandoval just wasn't active enough.
Steele shoots for a double leg takedown but Sandoval sprawls well. He's pushed Steele's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sandoval slaps away a takedown attempt from Steele, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Steele moves out of range of the body kick.
Good leg kick by Sandoval there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Sandoval leaves Steele with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Steele shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sandoval sprawls well. Sandoval wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Steele gets slowly back to his feet.

Sandoval displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Steele.
Matthew Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steele throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sandoval's waist but Sandoval gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steele off to one side.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sandoval. Steele shrugs it off though.
Steele blocks a head kick by Sandoval.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That kick from Sandoval tenderised Steele's leg. Steele is trying to keep his angry face on.
Sandoval shoots for a double leg takedown but Steele sprawls well. He's pushed Sandoval's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Steele walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Sandoval throws a series of punches but Steele moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Sandoval. No joy for Steele on that attempt.
Sandoval uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Steele has time to react.
Sandoval throws a sloppy head kick and Steele moves out of range easily.
Steele doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sandoval counters with a good low kick that Steele was not able to check.
Sandoval takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Steele is rocked!
Steele drops his hands momentarily. Sandoval doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Steele staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Steele doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juanito Sandoval!
