The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ho Kam swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Ho Kam swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Phill Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Ho Kam.

Smith has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ho Kam is trying to keep an underhook but Smith manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
