Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Still (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Still comes into the arena with Laveerre - Kaasupää blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ryan Carter enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Still!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Carter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter missing with a left hand there. Still was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Carter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Still.
Carter rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Still counters with a stiff right hand.
Still swinging wildly here.
Still closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Carter throws a hook to the side of Still's head but Still sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Still bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Still slips a straight right by Carter.
Carter throws a right hand that misses
and Still counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Still thows a body shot but no joy.
Carter misses with a right hand
and Still counters with a stiff right hand.
Carter thows a body shot but no joy.
Carter tries a low kick but Still avoids it.
Carter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Still lands the left hand.
Carter throws a body kick that misses.

A low kick from Carter is predictable there
enabling Still to counter with a crisp jab.
Still keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carter.
Nice defenses there by Still.
Carter scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Carter throws the left hand but Still avoids the punch easily.
Still defending well as Carter loads up on a big left hand.
Carter bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Still's head.
Still steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carter.

Carter swings for the body but Still moves out of range.
Carter on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Carter throws a leg kick
and Still counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Still paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Still slips a jab from Carter.
Carter throws a hook but Still avoids it easily.
Still looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carter stuffs the takedown.

Carter throws a big shot that misses.
Carter tried to score with a low kick but Still checks it.
Carter swings widly with a right hand
and Still counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Carter thinking.
Still lands with an uppercut that bounces Carter off the cage and back into range.
Carter throws a lazy uppercut

and Still counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Still.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carter scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Still steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Still will probably get the nod.

Still comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Still tries to bum rush Carter with a series of wild strikes but Carter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Carter throws a low kick but it's checked well by Still.

Carter throws a nice inside leg kick.
Carter misses with a series of wild punches.

Still decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Carter is looking for a sweep. Still is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Still wants to pass the guard but Carter is defending well.
Carter is trying to stand.

Still in half guard, Still seems content to control.
Still working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Still is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Still working away from the top, dropping strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Still landing punches.
Still with shots to the head and body - Carter looks very uncomfortable down there.
Carter wants to hold on but Still pushes him away.
Still throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still controlling the pace for now.

It looks like Ryan Carter has been cut.
Still looking to ground and pound but Carter is blocking nicely.
Still lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Carter tries to reverse the position but Still maintains control.
Carter is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Carter is breathing heavily.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Still throws some wild stikes that Carter manages to avoid easily.
Still sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Still trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Still landing strikes, looking to finish!
Carter is bucking up trying to escape but Still cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still controlling his opponent.
Still lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter misses with a hook
and Still counters with a low kick, right behind Carter 's knee.
Still uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.
Carter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Carter misses with a jab to the body
and Still makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Carter really felt that one!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd cheers as Carter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Still doesn't seem phased though.

and Still counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Still has Carter pressed against the cage, preventing Carter from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Still works on Carter's body with a couple of short punches.
Carter letting Still take a breather here.
Still lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Carter is trying to push Still away but Still has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A right hand to the body from Still.

Still gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Carter regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Still slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Still advances to half guard.
Still is looking to advance position but Carter won't allow it.
Carter blocking the ground and pound attempt from Still.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Still controlling the action here.
Ryan Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Still has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Still.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Still, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
