Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ellis Sly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ellis Sly!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sly takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
The fighters circling - Taylor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sly paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Taylor fails with the takedown
and Sly counters with a nice uppercut.

Taylor gets caught napping as Sly dives in and scores a takedown. Taylor manages to retain guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sly is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sly trying to control but Taylor is working from the bottom.
Taylor wants to sweep but no luck.
Taylor pulls Sly in close to prevent any damage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ellis Sly hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Sly looks to land a left hand but Taylor moved out of range nicely.
Taylor pushes Sly away with a front kick.
Taylor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters circling a little - Taylor finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Sly swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sly takes a swing at Taylor's ribcage but misses.
Sly misses with a double jab.
Sly blocks the body kick.
Sly is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Taylor.

Sly swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sly but Sly pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Sly counters with a left and a right that stings Taylor.
Sly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sly cracks Taylor with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Taylor is breathing heavily.
Sly tries to bum rush Taylor with a series of wild strikes but Taylor uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sly lands a jab to Taylor's midsection.

Taylor fails with the takedown.
Sly has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Taylor.

Nice body punch from Sly.
Sly misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Taylor connects with a solid leg kick.
Sly smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A cross from Sly lands.
Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sly paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Taylor takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Taylor takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Sly scores with a hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sly catches Taylor with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Sly changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Sly swinging wildly here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ellis Sly dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Taylor looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Sly counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Joe Taylor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sly loads up on a big right hand but Taylor slips the punch.

Joe Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sly cracks Taylor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Sly bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Taylor's head.
A punch lands to the side of Taylor 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Taylor looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Taylor is looking to control Sly's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Taylor avoid being mounted?

Sly takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sly lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sly.
Sly feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Taylors jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Taylor avoids the body shot from Sly.
Taylor thuds his shin into the meat of Sly's side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Taylor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sly pinned against the cage. Sly gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ellis Sly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Taylor shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sly eats them both and turns towards Taylor to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sly paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sly moves out of range as Taylor throws a body kick.
Sly thuds a left hand into Taylor's body.
Taylor lands a front kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sly.
Sly throws a jab but it's blocked by Taylor.
Taylor thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sly if he has to take too many more of those.
Sly misses with a straight left.
Taylor is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
No luck for Taylor with that takedown attempt.
Sly lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sly.

Sly manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Taylor on his heels. He'll look to pass Taylor's guard now, I'm sure.
Taylor wants to stand and escape but Sly is having none of it.

Sly shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sly showed some decent athleticism there.
Sly is thwarting Taylor's attempts to control the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sly slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ellis Sly has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Taylor takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A punch lands to the side of Taylor 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Taylor pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sly displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Taylor.
Taylor takes a jab right on the kisser.
Taylor takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sly looks to score with a jab to the body but Taylor is just out of range.
Taylor takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Ellis Sly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
