PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Machine Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gulius Pierobon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierobon has chosen Nightmare walking as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man shoots in for a double leg but Pierobon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pierobon tries to clinch up.
Pierobon tries to clinch up but Man circles away and keeps his distance.
Man shoots in but Pierobon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pierobon misses with a wild combination.
Pierobon has his takedown stuffed

and Man decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pierobon's guard.

Man works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Man looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Pierobon is defending against the submission attempts here by Man.
Man is breathing heavily.
Pierobon controlling the position well.

Man tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pierobon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Man has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pierobon tries to lock up and control but Man gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Man can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pierobon is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pierobon wants to hold on but Man pushes him away.

Man goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pierobon turns into him and now he's in Man's guard.
Pierobon won't allow Man to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Man looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pierobon passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pierobon is looking to take a break and control but Man is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Man gets back to full guard.
Man manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pierobon is squirming around, avoiding Man's attempts to control the action.
Pierobon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Man. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Man stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Man shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Man thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pierobon controls Man momentarily but Man frees himself.

Man is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pierobon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pierobon has escaped and now he's on top!

Man looking for a guillotine here but Pierobon defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Machine Man dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pierobon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Man working for submissions but it's allowed Pierobon to get to half guard.

Pierobon postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Man to stand up.
Pierobon closes the distance but Man moves to the side

and Man counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pierobon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Man works his way into full mount!
Pierobon is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Man sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Man is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Pierobon is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Pierobon flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Man anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Pierobon and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Man slips an arm under Pierobon chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Man has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Man is squeezing on Pierobon like an anaconda would it's prey. Pierobon fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Machine Man!
