Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Wise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolaos Demetriou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wise might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Calling all Destroyers by TSAR. Demetriou has chosen Boom - POD as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Wise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nikolaos Demetriou!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demetriou on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Demetriou closes the distance and pushes Wise back into the cage.
Demetriou has Wise pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wise manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Demetriou tries a body shot but Wise blocks it.

Wise breaks from the clinch.
Demetriou throws a jab but it's blocked by Wise.
Wise lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Demetriou at a distance.
Demetriou uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Demetriou takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Demetriou's jab looks to have found its range, popping Wise under the eye.

It looks like Dennis Wise has been cut.
No joy there for Demetriou, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Demetriou lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wise circles away quickly and effectively.

Wise shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Demetriou manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Wise thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Demetriou is looking for a triangle but Wise pushes his legs off easily.
Wise wants to pass the guard but Demetriou is keeping the position.

Demetriou throws a right hand that Wise ducks under and follows up with a left that Wise also avoids with ease.
Wise lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nice takedown defense from Demetriou. No joy for Wise on that attempt.
Wise throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Demetriou sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Wise blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Wise is pressed up against the cage. Demetriou has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wise down to the mat. Wise avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Wise wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Demetriou has him pressed against the cage.

Demetriou wants a takedown.
Dennis Wise has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nikolaos Demetriou.

Demetriou works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wise throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Demetriou really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wise. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Demetriou postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wise wants to get back to his feet but Demetriou is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Demetriou must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wise working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Demetriou doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Demetriou manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wise is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Demetriou is aware though and is defending well.
Demetriou makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wise is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Wise manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Wise closes this distance looking for a takedown but Demetriou circles away.

Wise throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Demetriou stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Demetriou will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wise throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Wise throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Demetriou.
Wise digs a good body shot into Demetriou's ribs.
Horrible takedown by Wise or perhaps it was just good defense by Demetriou which made him look bad.

Wise scores with a one two! Demetriou had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Demetriou tries to sprawl but Wise drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Wise seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Demetriou does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dennis Wise overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wise lands a nice short elbow.

BOOM! Wise connects with a massive shot to the dome!
