Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Raive Manuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Rosholt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Rosholt is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raive Manuel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rosholt!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Manuel. Those never looked like landing.
Manuel has his takedown stuffed

and Rosholt counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rosholt throws an elbow that misses. Manuel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rosholt's guard. Nice move by Manuel!
Manuel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rosholt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rosholt is pulling down on Manuel's head. It's preventing any offense from Manuel, at least for the moment.

Rosholt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manuel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Raive Manuel just wasn't active enough.

Manuel throws a left that rocks Rosholt and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Manuel dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Rosholt regain composure!


It looks like Jake Rosholt has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Manuel sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rosholt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Manuel tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rosholt can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rosholt is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Manuel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rosholt is landing with some decent strikes but Manuel is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rosholt moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Manuel has worked his arm free - good work by Manuel!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rosholt misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rosholt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Manuel quickly recovers to half guard.

Manuel is trying to escape the position but Rosholt is controlling the position.
Rosholt tries to score with some ground and pound. Manuel controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Rosholt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rosholt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rosholt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Manuel keeps working.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Rosholt scores with punches from side control.
Rosholt is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Manuel will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Rosholt is looking to take a break and control but Manuel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rosholt lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Manuel down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Rosholt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Manuel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rosholt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Raive Manuel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Rosholt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Manuel won't be happy with that.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee asks Rosholt politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rosholt prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jake Rosholt hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Rosholt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Manuel's guard now.
Rosholt tries to free his leg and advance position but Manuel is retaining full guard.

Rosholt is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jake Rosholt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jake Rosholt.
Manuel does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Rosholt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rosholt winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
