Funakoshi comes to the cage accompanied by Martial Art Drum Beat. Castro has chosen Carlos Puebla - Y En Eso Llego Fidel as his entrance music. Castro fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Funakoshi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Castro takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Funakoshi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Castro counters with a head kick.

Funakoshi tries to bum rush Castro with a series of wild strikes but Castro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Funakoshi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Castro circles away quickly and effectively.
Castro is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Funakoshi rather than just go for the knockout.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Funakoshi tries to lock up and control but Castro gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Funakoshi tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Castro uses his free foot to push down on Funakoshi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Funakoshi.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Castro blocks Funakoshi's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
