Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Shields told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Penn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Shields passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Penn tries to bench press Shields off him but Shields keeps the position.
Shields scores with a couple of short elbows.
Penn is working to avoid the ground and pound but Shields connects with a decent elbow.
Shields tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ground and pound from Shields seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Shields in side control lands a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shields has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Penn!
Shields tries to control but Penn wriggling away.

Penn tries to hold on but Shields pushes him away.

It looks like Shields might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Shields was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shields sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shields misses with a hook
and Penn counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Penn wants to get up but he can't break Shields's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Penn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Shields is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Shields lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Penn!

Penn takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Shields's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
