Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Neil Pert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pert's entrance music is Tom Sawyer-Rush. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie with a lazy takedown attempt
and Pert counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Gracie has his foot on Pert's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pert works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pert trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pert has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.
Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pert is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gracie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gracie shrugs it off.

Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pert swivels and escapes.
Gracie throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pert counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gracie!
Pert with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Pert jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gracie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gracie and Pert has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
