Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mahti Sonni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonni comes to the cage accompanied by Aki & Turo - Mahtisonni - . Steele has chosen The Pixies - Tame as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sonni fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Steele sprawls well initially but Sonni persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sonni looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sonni has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Steele is trying to maintain the position but Sonni is very close to passing his half guard.

Sonni seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Steele for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sonni in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mahti Sonni just wasn't active enough.

Sonni throws a series of punches but Steele avoids them all with ease.
Steele takes a swing at Sonni's ribcage but misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sonni. Steele does a little dance to reset his feet.

Sonni clinches up with Steele and pushes him back against the cage.

Sonni lands with a slapping head kick.

Sonni closes the distance and pushes Steele back into the cage.
Still in the clinch, Sonni scores with a nice short uppercut.

Sonni breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Steele swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sonni jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sonni loads up on a big right hand but Steele slips the punch.
Sonni misses the shot to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sonni closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Steele quickly recovers to half guard.
Sonni not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Steele avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sonni.
Sonni content to control rather than advance.
Steele really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sonni. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sonni's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Mahti Sonni has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Steele takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sonni moves into the clinch.
Steele's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Sonni pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sonni throws a head kick but Steele moves out of range.
Steele defending well as Sonni loads up on a big left hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sonni shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Steele is trying to defend but Sonni finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mahti Sonni dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Steele lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sonni at a distance.
Steele just misses with a punch to the body.
Sonni swings for the body but Steele moves out of range.
Steele throws a nice looking combination but Sonni bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sonni closes the distance and clinches.

and Sonni makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Sonni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Steele napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ground and pound from Sonni seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
