PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Clarke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroki Ishakima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hiroki Ishakima was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrew Clarke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroki Ishakima!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishakima misses with a series of wild punches.
Clarke misses the shot to the body.
Ishakima throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ishakima tried to score with a low kick but Clarke checks it.
Clarke shoots in for a takedown but Ishakima shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Clarke slips a jab and a cross from Ishakima.
Ishakima takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Clarke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ishakima's waist but Ishakima gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Clarke off to one side.
Ishakima throws a right hand that Clarke ducks under and follows up with a left that Clarke also avoids with ease.
Clarke drops his hands momentarily and Ishakima takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Clarke thows a body shot but no joy.

Clarke misses with the combination.
Clarke throws a body punch but Ishakima moves out of range.
No joy there for Ishakima, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Clarke misses with a body shot.
Ishakima scores with a decent looking hook.
A looping hook to the body misses from Clarke. Ishakima does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ishakima looks to land a combination but Clarke avoids it well.
Ishakima throws a right hand that Clarke ducks under and follows up with a left that Clarke also avoids with ease.
Ishakima connects with a body shot.
Hiroki Ishakima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Clarke pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Clarke just misses with a punch to the body.
Clarke looks to score with a jab to the body but Ishakima is just out of range.

Clarke shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Clarke showed some decent athleticism there.
Clarke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ishakima does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Clarke lands a nice short elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ishakima has hold of Clarke's hands but Clarke slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Clarke looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ishakima with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Clarke tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ishakima was well out of range. Poor timing from Clarke.
Ishakima scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ishakima throws a push kick but Clarke slaps the foot to one side.

Clarke perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Ishakima is refusing to be controlled, as Clarke sits in half guard.

Clarke is trying to control. Ishakima wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Clarke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Clarke cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ishakima takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Clarke looking to control but Ishakima is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ishakima misses with a two punch combination.
Clarke throws an off balance right hand
and Clarke takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Clarke takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Clarke lands a nice shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Clarke throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ishakima jabs Clarke right on the nose. Clarke blinks but takes it well.
Clarke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Clarke has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ishakima.
Ishakima closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Andrew Clarke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ishakima throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Clarke swinging wildly here.

Clarke is looking to wear down Ishakima with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Clarke decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clarke in particular looking to stall.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clarke, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
