PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chase Nuke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Div Samsunyak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chase Nuke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Div Samsunyak!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samsunyak closes the distance and clinches up with Nuke, looking for a takedown. Samsunyak pushes Nuke against the cage but Nuke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Samsunyak has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nuke finds it's way round the side to connect with Samsunyak's head.
Samsunyak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nuke circles away.
Samsunyak changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nuke tries to avoid it but Samsunyak manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nuke to the ground. Nuke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Chase Nuke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Div Samsunyak.
Nuke works Samsunyak's body with a nice hook.
Nuke lands with a straight right. Samsunyak didn't see that one coming.
Samsunyak takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nuke blocks a head kick by Samsunyak.
Samsunyak misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nuke goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Samsunyak drives through with a takedown into Nuke's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Samsunyak trying to control the position from guard on top but Nuke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nuke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Samsunyak stops Nuke from standing up.

Nuke seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nuke keeping moving, preventing Samsunyak from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Div Samsunyak.
No joy there for Nuke, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nuke rushes Samsunyak and presses him up against the cage.
Samsunyak wants to break the clinch but can't.
Samsunyak looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Nuke prevents the takedown attempt.
Samsunyak drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Nuke gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Samsunyak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nuke misses with a wild body shot.
Samsunyak swats away the attempt to clinch by Nuke.
Samsunyak wants to clinch up but Nuke keeps it at a distance.
Chase Nuke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nuke stuns Samsunyak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Samsunyak moves into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Nuke putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Samsunyak in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Samsunyak wants a takedown but no success here.
Samsunyak has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nuke is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Samsunyak manages to pull guard.

Nuke decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Samsunyak, up you get!
Nuke dodges the punch combination from Samsunyak.

Samsunyak shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Samsunyak was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Nuke tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Samsunyak with the ground and pound from mount.
Samsunyak trying to control but Nuke is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee warns Nuke that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Div Samsunyak will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Samsunyak shoots for a takedown but Nuke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nuke moves into the clinch.
Samsunyak has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nuke is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Samsunyak has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nuke avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chase Nuke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Div Samsunyak.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Nuke obliges.

Samsunyak has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nuke regains guard immediately.
Nuke is trying to control the position but Samsunyak postures up.
Nuke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nuke wants to get back to his feet but Samsunyak is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Samsunyak trying to control but Nuke is working from the bottom.

Samsunyak preventing the sweep.
Samsunyak is standing up over Nuke. Nuke looks to escape but Samsunyak dives into side control.
Samsunyak is looking to take a break and control but Nuke is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Samsunyak in side control, throwing shots but Nuke defends.
Nuke tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Div Samsunyak has got the better of the ground game so far.

Nuke is not content to let Samsunyak control the position.
Nuke is trying to improve his position.
Samsunyak wants to control but Nuke is keeping him busy.

Samsunyak is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nuke has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samsunyak moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Samsunyak trying to control the position but Nuke is working away.

Samsunyak tries for a kimura but Nuke is defending well.
Samsunyak wants to take a breather but Nuke manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Samsunyak.

Samsunyak trying to control but Nuke is working from the bottom.
Samsunyak tries to stand but Nuke is controlling from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Div Samsunyak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Samsunyak swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nuke is looking to clinch.
Samsunyak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Samsunyak tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nuke throws a right hand that Samsunyak ducks under and follows up with a left that Samsunyak also avoids with ease.
Samsunyak tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nuke swivels and escapes.
Samsunyak moves out of range of the body kick.
Chase Nuke is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice takedown defense from Nuke. No joy for Samsunyak on that attempt.
Chase Nuke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Div Samsunyak.
Nuke works over Samsunyak's head and body with a nice combination.
No luck for Samsunyak with that takedown attempt.
Samsunyak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nuke instigates a clinch.
Samsunyak has Nuke pressed against the cage, preventing Nuke from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Nuke trying to land knees to the body.
Samsunyak tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nuke just stands there and leans against the cage.
Samsunyak fails to pull guard.
Samsunyak is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nuke pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Samsunyak tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nuke letting Samsunyak take a breather here.

Nuke has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Samsunyak uses from the top position.

Samsunyak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nuke is keeping the position for now.
Samsunyak trying to control the position from guard on top but Nuke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Samsunyak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nuke manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Samsunyak has Nuke in his guard.
Samsunyak trying to keep a closed guard but Nuke is proving a slippery customer.
Nuke wanted to stand there but Samsunyak had control of the position.

Nuke stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Nuke looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nuke prevents the takedown attempt.
Samsunyak takes an elbow to the temple.
Nuke tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Samsunyak is trying to force a seperation but Nuke has the dominant position.
Samsunyak jumps guard but Nuke stands there with Samsunyak around his waist. Samsunyak gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nuke blocks a body shot from Samsunyak.
Nuke slows down the pace here.
Samsunyak drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nuke pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nuke misses with a double jab.
Chase Nuke has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Div Samsunyak is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Samsunyak is looking to slow Nuke down with leg kicks.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chase Nuke.
I think Samsunyak has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
