The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Kay with that takedown attempt. Gambini thows a body shot but no joy. Gambini misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gambini pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kay back to the cage. Gambini follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Chrisi Kay has been cut. Gambini throws a series of punches but Kay moves out of range. Kay with a body punch. A glancing blow. Gambini works Kay's body with a nice hook. Kay dodges the punch combination from Gambini.
A big right from Gambini misses. Kay closes the distance and clinches up with Gambini, looking for a takedown. Kay pushes Gambini against the cage but Gambini circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gambini throws a series of punches but Kay moves out of range.

Kay does a little dance to reset his feet. Kay avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kay thuds a left hand into Gambini's body. Kay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gambini avoids it really well and circles away. Gambini slips a jab from Kay. Kay throws a looping overhand right but Gambini ducks down to avoid it. Kay throws a series of punches but Gambini moves out of range. Kay takes one to the chin there. A combination from Gambini does no damage. Kay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gambini manages to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gambini lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Gambini shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kay eats them both and turns towards Gambini to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Gambini misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kay.
Kay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gambini blocks the body kick.
Gambini lands a nice shot that snaps Kay's head back.
Kay throws a right hand that Gambini ducks under and follows up with a left that Gambini also avoids with ease. Gambini avoids the head kick by Kay.
Gambini misses the body punch and Kay makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Gambini really felt that one! Kay misses with a hook. Gambini ducked under it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gambini rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kay moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Gambini throws a hook but Kay blocks it. Gambini moves out of range of the body kick. Garo Gambini is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A jab from Gambini misses. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kay shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gambini but Gambini pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sloppy strikes from Gambini. Those never looked like landing. Gambini lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gambini throws a right hand that Kay ducks under and follows up with a left that Kay also avoids with ease. Gambini swings for the body but Kay moves out of range.

Garo Gambini dominated that round. The cut man is working on Chrisi Kay's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kay fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gambini cracks Kay with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Gambini scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and Kay counters with a single leg into guard. Gambini didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kay throwing strikes but missing. Gambini wriggles free and stands up. Kay dodges the punch combination from Gambini.

Gambini throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kay staying out of range there. Kay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kay scoring with strikes to the body and head. Kay looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

This has been an exciting period of action! Nice strikes from Kay there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Kay. Gambini tries to kick Kay off in order to stand up. Kay Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Kay is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gambini knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gambini tries to strike but it doesn't land. Kay has hold of Gambini's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gambini tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kay cranks the arm and Gambini screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gambini, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
