PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wang Chung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad Sevchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chung comes to the ring accompanied by Everybody Have Fun Tonight- Wang Chung. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wang Chung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Sevchenko!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sevchenko moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Chung uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sevchenko.
Chung stuffs the takedown attempt from Sevchenko. Sevchenko gets slowly back to his feet.
Chung lands a nice looking body shot.

Chung lands a left and a right that send Sevchenko crashing to the mat, dazed. Chung thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Sevchenko is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sevchenko manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Chung on his heels. He'll look to pass Chung's guard now, I'm sure.
Sevchenko is still in real trouble! Can Chung finish him?
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sevchenko wants to control from the top but Chung keeps moving.

Chung escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sevchenko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sevchenko stopping the sweep attempt from Chung.
Sevchenko throws and elbow that misses. Chung uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sevchenko's guard. Nice move by Chung!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chung accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sevchenko is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sevchenko seems to have recovered his senses.
Chung throwing strikes but missing.
Sevchenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chung is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sevchenko keeping moving, preventing Chung from controlling successfully.
Chung missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Chung trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Chung wants to control from the top but Sevchenko keeps moving.
Sevchenko working a defensive guard but Chung manages to pass into side control anyway.
The ground and pound from Chung seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sevchenko is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sevchenko can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sevchenko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Chung has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Chung misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Chung throws a strike aimed at the side of Sevchenko's head but Sevchenko avoids it well.
Chung will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Chung postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Chung in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Chung is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sevchenko has escaped the position, nice work there.
Chung lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sevchenko down.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chung tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Chung working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Chung throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Chung sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sevchenko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Chung tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Chung throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chung fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Chung wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sevchenko keeps working.
Chung tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Sevchenko is trying to control Chung's posture but Chung avoids it.
Sevchenko is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chung is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chung trying to control the action but Sevchenko is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wang Chung dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sevchenko gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Sevchenko tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Chung is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Sevchenko buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Sevchenko!! Sevchenko is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Chung throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wang Chung!
