Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Paulson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Flang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flang has chosen Tenacious D - Fuck Her Gently as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Paulson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Flang!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flang throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Flang avoids a punch combination nicely.
Flang lands with a straight right. Paulson didn't see that one coming.
Paulson catches Flang with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Paulson moves out of range as Flang strikes.

Flang shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Paulson is trying to defend but Flang finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Flang works his foot free and advances to mount.

Flang moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Paulson has worked his arm free - good work by Paulson!
Flang is looking to take a break and control but Paulson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Paulson prevents Flang from moving into mount.
Flang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paulson keeps working.

Flang tries to move to mount but Paulson blocks the move with his legs.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Flang is trying to get an arm triangle but Paulson is defending well.
Paulson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Flang has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Flang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paulson keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flang passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Paulson!
Flang looking to control but Paulson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Flang looking to secure an arm triangle but Paulson defends it well.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Flang takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Flang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Paulson manages to avoid it.
Flang shoots for a takedown but Paulson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Flang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Flang is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Paulson rather than just go for the knockout.

Flang tries to free his leg and advance position but Paulson is retaining full guard.

Flang drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Paulson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Flang has Paulson in his guard.

Flang pulls Paulson in close to prevent any damage.

Paulson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We're going to have a standup here because Robert Paulson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Flang has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Flang bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Paulson's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Paulson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Horrible takedown by Flang or perhaps it was just good defense by Paulson which made him look bad.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Flang is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Paulson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Paulson!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robert Paulson.
I think Flang has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
