PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cristiano Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halo has chosen Someday imma get the belt. as his entrance music. George Suzuki could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Cristiano Halo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cristiano Halo!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Suzuki gets the takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Halo tries to buck Suzuki off but Suzuki is having none of it.

Suzuki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Suzuki wants to control but Halo is keeping him busy.
Suzuki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Halo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Halo wants to control but Suzuki postures up.
Halo tries to buck Suzuki off but Suzuki is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Suzuki tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Halo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Halo bucks up and tries to throw Suzuki off but instead Suzuki has got his back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Halo defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Suzuki's arms.
Halo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Suzuki's guard. Nice work there by Halo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suzuki wants to sweep here but Halo controlling him for the moment.
Suzuki has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Halo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Halo wants to pass the guard but Suzuki is keeping the position.
Suzuki can't keep his opponent in guard - Halo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Suzuki tries to get to full guard but Halo has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Suzuki looking for submissions off his back.

Halo is looking for a kimura but Suzuki is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Halo to get the leverage.
Halo stops Suzuki from getting back to his feet.

Halo is looking for a kimura here.

Halo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Halo is working for a kimura but Suzuki is defending it quite comfortably.

Halo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Suzuki is just riding it out for now. Halo eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Halo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Suzuki keeping hold of Halo's head, controlling as best he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Halo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cristiano Halo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Halo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Suzuki pinned against the cage. Suzuki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Halo lands with a slapping head kick.
A low kick from Suzuki misses
and Halo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
No luck for Halo with that takedown attempt.
Suzuki tries to close the distance and clinch but Halo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A jab from Halo finds it's way through Suzuki's defenses.
Halo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Halo avoids the body shot from Suzuki.
Suzuki looks for the body kick but Halo saw that one coming.
Halo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suzuki's waist but Suzuki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Halo off to one side.
George Suzuki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristiano Halo.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Halo.
Suzuki looks to throw a body kick
and Halo counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Suzuki throws a series of punches but Halo moves out of range.
Halo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Suzuki is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Halo fails to land the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suzuki stuffs the takedown.
Suzuki misses with a body kick.
Suzuki tries to clinch there but Halo circles away.
George Suzuki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice sprawl there from Halo as Suzuki shoots in.
Good leg kick by Halo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Suzuki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
George Suzuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Suzuki stuffs the takedown.
Suzuki shoots in but no luck this time.
Suzuki tries to clinch but Halo moves away
and Halo counters with a straight right hand.

Halo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Halo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Suzuki is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Halo yanks on the arm and Suzuki is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Halo.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cristiano Halo!
