PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Davino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davino comes to the cage accompanied by Despicable Me by Pharrell Williams. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davino tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Octavio Davino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee throws a head kick but Davino moves out of range.

Lee takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Davino shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Davino stalks Lee and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lee's face. Lee staggers backwards, shaken.

Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.
Davino takes one on the button.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Davino throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Lee punishes Davino's body with a nice straight punch.
Davino is breathing heavily.
Davino looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Davino persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.

Davino misses with a wild body shot.
Davino takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Davino's corner calls for a 1-2. Davino obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Lee throws a right and a left that Davino avoids nicely.
Davino is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Lee cracks Davino with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A jab lands there for Lee.

Lee lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Lee looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Davino is really struggling to control Lee but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Octavio Davino.

Davino drives through with a takedown into guard.
Davino pushes down on Lee's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Davino works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Davino cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Octavio Davino will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
