Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maurice Sullivan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Meed! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meed shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sullivan as he avoids it easily. Sullivan misses with a wild body shot. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Sullivan looks for a takedown but Meed sprawls well. Meed throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sullivan. Meed shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sullivan pinned against the cage. Sullivan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Sullivan throws out a loose jab but Meed uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan throws a right hand that Meed ducks under and follows up with a left that Meed also avoids with ease. Sullivan has a takedown stuffed. Sullivan tries to clinch but Meed moves out of range. Sullivan stuffs the takedown. Maurice Sullivan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Meed. Meed avoids the head kick by Sullivan.
Sullivan shoots in for a double leg but Meed sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sullivan stuffs the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meed misses with a two punch combination.
Meed fails with a takedown attempt. Meed defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sullivan. Meed slips under a jab from Sullivan. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sullivan is defended easily by Meed.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sullivan misses with a hook. Meed ducked under it nicely. Left hook, right uppercut from Sullivan. Meed throws a series of punches but Sullivan avoids them all with ease. Meed feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Meed passes Sullivan's left leg - he's now in half guard. Sullivan is trying to maintain the position but Meed is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meed is looking to take a break and control but Sullivan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sullivan moves into full guard.
Meed stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sullivan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sullivan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Sullivan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Meed manages to get himself to full guard.
Meed looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Meed controls Sullivan momentarily but Sullivan frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but David Meed will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Sullivan fails with the takedown and Meed decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sullivan's guard. Meed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Meed won't allow Sullivan to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sullivan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Meed is controlling him. Sullivan keeping moving, preventing Meed from controlling successfully. Meed is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Meed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan keeping full guard, as Meed tries to pass. Meed has gone for a leg lock! Sullivan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Meed's guard. Meed working for a triangle but Sullivan defends it easily.
Meed is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sullivan defends well. Sullivan trying to control but Meed is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sullivan is looking to advance position but Meed has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Sullivan tries to hold on but Meed postures up. Sullivan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Meed is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sullivan has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Sullivan manages to regain half guard. Good work. Sullivan tries to get to full guard but Meed has control of the leg. David Meed has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sullivan keeps control of the position for the meantime. Meed is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Meed stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sullivan to get to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sullivan misses with a straight left. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Meed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Sullivan leaves Meed with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sullivan lands the left hand. Sullivan shoots in and bounces Meed off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sullivan wants to control from the top but Meed keeps moving. Sullivan tries to free his leg and advance position but Meed is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meed pushes Sullivan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Sullivan!

Oh, Sullivan has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Meed is trying to control Sullivan's posture but Sullivan avoids it.

Meed is trying to get back to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Meed is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Sullivan is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to David Meed. I've got Meed winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
