PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mad Dog Vachon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vachon's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Gros jambon. The key to victory for Mad Dog Vachon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mad Dog Vachon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vachon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jitsu napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jitsu is trying to control Vachon's posture but Vachon avoids it.

Vachon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jitsu has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vachon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jitsu keeps working.
Jitsu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vachon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Vachon keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jitsu manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Vachon wants to control from the top but Jitsu keeps moving.
Vachon throwing strikes but missing.
Jitsu is pulling down on Vachon's head. It's preventing any offense from Vachon, at least for the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Mad Dog Vachon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Vachon tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Jitsu counters with a takedown into side control.

Jitsu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vachon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Vachon is trying to control Jitsu's posture but Jitsu avoids it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jitsu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jitsu trying to control the position but Vachon is working away.
Vachon wants to control but Jitsu postures up.
Vachon is looking to reverse the position.
Jitsu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vachon keeps working.

Jitsu looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Jitsu trying to control the position but Vachon is working away.
Vachon is trying to control Jitsu's posture but Jitsu avoids it.

Jitsu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Jitsu swings around for an armbar but Vachon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jitsu's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vachon showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vachon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jitsu works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Vachon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Vachon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jiu Jitsu will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Vachon drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jitsu is pulling down on Vachon's head. It's preventing any offense from Vachon, at least for the moment.
Vachon wants to stand and escape but instead Jitsu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Vachon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mad Dog Vachon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vachon looking to finish Jitsu with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jitsu!

Vachon stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Vachon wants to clinch up but Jitsu keeps it at a distance.

Jitsu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Vachon!
Jitsu looking to control but Vachon is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jitsu goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Vachon turns into him and now he's in Jitsu's guard.

Vachon gets to his feet. Jitsu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Vachon dives in and scores a takedown into Jitsu's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vachon wanted to stand there but Jitsu had control of the position.

Vachon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jitsu, up you get!

Vachon looking to control but Jitsu is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Vachon throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Jitsu because Vachon loaded up on that one.
Jitsu can't escape the position.
Vachon lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jitsu hang on?

Vachon moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jitsu has worked his arm free - good work by Jitsu!
You can see the frustration on Jitsu's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vachon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vachon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jitsu tries to improve position but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vachon with the ground and pound but Jitsu regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Vachon is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mad Dog Vachon dominated that second round.
That's time! Vachon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!



Jitsu shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jitsu looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Vachon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jitsu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vachon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jitsu is working for a submission of some sort.

Jitsu is working for a kimura but Vachon is defending it quite comfortably.
Vachon is looking for a sweep. Jitsu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vachon is refusing to be controlled, as Jitsu sits in half guard.

Jitsu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jitsu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vachon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Vachon kicks Jitsu off and gets back to his feet.
Vachon closes the distance looking to clinch

and Jitsu counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jitsu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vachon is looking for a sweep. Jitsu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jitsu frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jitsu wants to control the pace but Vachon is squirming around nicely.
Vachon slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Jitsu wants to free his trapped foot but Vachon is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Jitsu is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Jitsu wants to control but Vachon is keeping him busy.
Vachon wants to control but Jitsu is keeping busy.

Jitsu is working for a kimura but Vachon is defending it quite comfortably.

Jitsu is trying to work for a kimura but Vachon is defending well.

Vachon pushes Jitsu off and gets back to his feet.

Poor strikes thrown by Vachon there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jiu Jitsu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jitsu has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
