PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McPhee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu S (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McPhee kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Loose yourself. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan McPhee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryu S!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
S throws a head kick but McPhee moves out of range.
A head kick from S lands but McPhee takes it in his stride.
S showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McPhee.
S misses with an attempted mid kick.
Ryu S seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McPhee on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
McPhee shoots in looking for a takedown. S tries to sprawl out of it but McPhee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. S manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A thudding body kick lands there by S!
S shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
S looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

McPhee misses the shot to the body.
S throws a lazy head kick
and McPhee counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McPhee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but S manages to avoid it.
S swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and McPhee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McPhee.
S is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
A right hand to the body from McPhee.
S misses with a short punch on the inside.
A short right hand to the side of the head by McPhee.

McPhee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McPhee uses good head movement to avoid the hook from S.
S with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as S checks a leg kick.
McPhee connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
McPhee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McPhee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

McPhee throws a jab but it's blocked by S.
McPhee is looking to score with low kicks.
S misses with a body shot.

McPhee shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. S is trying to defend but McPhee finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
S is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McPhee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McPhee's back!

McPhee turns into S and is now in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryu S will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McPhee looks to land a left hand but S moved out of range nicely.
S fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McPhee catches S with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
McPhee takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
McPhee fails with the takedown.
McPhee looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
S cracks McPhee with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
McPhee is looking to score with low kicks.

S tries to land a front kick but McPhee steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
S misses with a head kick.

S throws a big shot that misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McPhee moves into range and connects with a jab.

Ryu S is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McPhee throws a leg kick but S sees it coming and moves out of range.

McPhee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from S, right into the meat.
McPhee takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
S throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by McPhee.
S throws a body kick that misses.
S chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McPhee can pounce on him.
S keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A combination from S does no damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McPhee throws out a leg kick but S moves out of range and McPhee only half commits.

Ryu S showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! McPhee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

S waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McPhee.
S has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

S scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

McPhee moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by S.

McPhee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

S shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McPhee eats them both and turns towards S to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McPhee throws an overhand right that lands on S's shoulder, as S tries to avoid the shot.
S pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
S misses with a double jab
and McPhee counters with a nice body shot.
S slips a straight right by McPhee.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
S looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
S throws a combination. McPhee tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
McPhee throws a right and a left that both miss.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryu S comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got S winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
