The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henshaw looking to land some kicks to the body here.
A chopping leg kick lands by Henshaw.
Handel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Handel looks to score with a jab to the body but Henshaw is just out of range.
Handel moves out of range as Henshaw throws a body kick.
Henshaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Handel.
Handel throws a right and a left that Henshaw avoids nicely.
Henshaw jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Henshaw fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Handel.
Handel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Henshaw lands a head kick. Handel smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Handel looks to score with a jab to the body but Henshaw is just out of range.
Wilfried Handel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Henshaw throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A combination from Henshaw does no damage.
Henshaw lunges at Handel with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Handel's hand.
Henshaw throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Handel takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Handel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Henshaw moves away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Henshaw.
Henshaw lands a nice hook to Handel's body. Handel takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Henshaw turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Henshaw lands a front kick.
Henshaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Handel takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Handel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Henshaw.

Henshaw closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Handel quickly recovers to half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Henshaw trying to control the action but Handel is working from the bottom.
Henshaw seems to be working for a kimura but Handel defends the submission attempt.
Henshaw wants to pass to mount but Handel is defending the position.

Henshaw passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Handel!

Handel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Henshaw mounts Handel! Really nice guard pass there!
Handel is bucking up trying to escape but Henshaw cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Henshaw pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Handel is trying to reverse the position but instead Henshaw has taken his back - oops!
Handel is trying to defend against the choke here but Henshaw has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Henshaw Tightens the hold and Handel taps out furiously! Henshaw displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cpl. Steve Henshaw!
