PBP Commentary

Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durden thuds his right hand into Oliveira's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


It looks like Thiago Oliveira has been cut.
Left hook, right uppercut from Durden.
Oliveira avoids a punch combination nicely.

Oliveira feints and as Durden raises his hands in defense, Oliveira changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Durden is looking to sweep but instead, Oliveira has passed into half guard.
Oliveira with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Durden moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Oliveira slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Oliveira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Oliveira pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Durden is keeping the position for now.
Durden on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Durden tries to get out of the position.

Thiago Oliveira has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A swing and a miss from Durden.
Durden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Durden wants it to stay on the feet.

Oliveira closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Durden did well to prevent Oliveira getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Durden is trying is best to control the position here.
Oliveira takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Oliveira is pressing down on Durden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Durden is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliveira is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Thiago Oliveira.
Oliveira shoots in looking for a takedown. Durden tries to sprawl out of it but Oliveira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Durden manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Oliveira should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Durden pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Oliveira back to the cage. Durden follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Durden takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Durden dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Thiago Oliveira's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Durden scores with a jab to the body.
Durden works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Durden swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Durden throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Oliveira's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Durden dives in looking to finish as Oliveira flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Durden's strikes! Durden is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Oliveira's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Oliveira was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyler Durden!
