Acevedes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. California Love kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Andres Bernardini could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Marcus Acevedes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andres Bernardini!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Acevedes!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernardini throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Acevedes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bernardini scores with a crisp jab that stopped Acevedes in his tracks.
Andres Bernardini seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bernardini misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Acevedes counters with a nice uppercut.
Bernardini misses with a hook

and Acevedes counters with a takedown into side control.
Bernardini parries the strikes from Acevedes easily there. Acevedes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bernardini to escape.
Bernardini stops Acevedes from passing to mount.
Bernardini is trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Acevedes tries for a takedown but Bernardini sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Acevedes checks a leg kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bernardini's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Acevedes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bernardini's face.
You get the feeling that Bernardini really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bernardini is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Bernardini's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Acevedes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bernardini has worked his arm free - good work by Bernardini!
Acevedes creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Acevedes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bernardini is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Acevedes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bernardini has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Acevedes but great work by Bernardini.

Bernardini decides to stand up, so the ref orders Acevedes to his feet.

and Acevedes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bernardini's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Acevedes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bernardini won't be happy with that.
Bernardini is pushing Acevedes's head away, looking to escape. Acevedes manages to hold on to the position though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A slapping leg kick lands for Bernardini.
Acevedes ducks under a wild hook from Bernardini.
Bernardini's corner calls for a 1-2. Bernardini obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Acevedes slips a jab and a cross from Bernardini.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Acevedes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bernardini throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bernardini misses with a left hand

and Acevedes counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bernardini's guard now.
Acevedes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bernardini is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Acevedes stands up over Bernardini, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Acevedes throws a strike but Bernardini rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
