The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas looks to land a right hand but Jackman moved out of range.
Jackman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruas swivels and escapes.

Ruas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackman's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackman is refusing to be controlled, as Ruas sits in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ruas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackman has managed to get both his arms back between Ruas's legs - danger averted.

Ruas wants to clinch up but Jackman keeps it at a distance.
Jackman shoots in for a double leg but Ruas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jackman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ruas is fending him off so far but Jackman persists. Nope, Ruas circles away and we're back to standing.
