PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takeru Kyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyle comes to the cage accompanied by I Like to Move It. Mir has chosen Sub-Mission as his entrance music. Cain Mir is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Takeru Kyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Cain Mir!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir blocks a leg kick.
Mir wants to land a leg kick but Kyle is out of range.
Mir tries to bum rush Kyle with a series of wild strikes but Kyle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mir looks for the body kick but Kyle saw that one coming.
Mir throws a lazy body kick
and Kyle counters with a thumping low kick.
Kyle throws a leg kick
and Mir connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mir misses with a leg kick
and Kyle counters with a nice uppercut.
Mir throws a predictable looking body shot

and Kyle counters with a shoot takedown. Mir fights it but they end up in guard.
Kyle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kyle postures up in Mir's guard and throws a big left but Mir blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kyle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mir works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mir controls Kyle momentarily but Kyle frees himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mir utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mir wants to sweep but no luck.
Kyle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mir has momentary wrist control but Kyle slips an elbow through the middle.

Kyle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kyle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kyle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kyle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mir is proving hard to escape from.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mir throws a lazy right hand but Kyle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Kyle dives in and scores a takedown into Mir's guard.

Mir is looking for a triangle but Kyle pushes his legs off easily.
Kyle is working Mir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Mir wants to sweep but no luck.

Kyle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mir is aware though and is defending well.
Mir looking to sit in guard and control but Kyle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kyle has managed to get both his arms back between Mir's legs - danger averted.

Mir manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kyle manages to get himself to full guard.
Mir loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Kyle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mir defends it easily.
Miris looking to pass into half guard but Kyle pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kyle is in guard.

Mir seems keen to control Kyle's posture.
Mir bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kyle's guard.

Kyle is looking for a triangle but Mir pushes his legs off easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mir seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kyle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kyle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kyle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cain Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kyle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
