Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tito Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zolar Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz comes to the cage accompanied by yes. Zolar Emelianenko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Tito Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zolar Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Emelianenko makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Cruz really felt that one!

Emelianenko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cruz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cruz throws a strike but Emelianenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Emelianenko wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position.

Cruz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cruz is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emelianenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard.
Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cruz.

An elbow from Cruz crashes against the mat.
Cruz is trying to ground and pound but Emelianenko uses the momentary lack of control by Cruz to regain half guard.
Cruz is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Cruz throws a strike but Emelianenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cruz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.

Emelianenko controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Emelianenko looking to pass the guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cruz shoots in and drives through. Emelianenko sprawls well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Horrible takedown by Cruz or perhaps it was just good defense by Emelianenko which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tito Cruz will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Cruz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Emelianenko parries the strikes from Cruz easily there. Cruz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Emelianenko to escape.
Emelianenko managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Cruz.
Emelianenko avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Cruz.
Cruz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Emelianenko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Emelianenko sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Cruz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cruz throws a strike but Emelianenko avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Cruz throws a strike but Emelianenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cruz looking for subs off his back but Emelianenko has passed one foot through into half guard.
Cruz is trying to control but can't.
Emelianenko is taking a breather. Cruz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Emelianenko wants to advance to full mount but Cruz doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Emelianenko not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cruz wants to sweep here but Emelianenko controlling him for the moment.
Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cruz pulls Emelianenko in to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cruz misses with a takedown
and Emelianenko counters with a leg kick.
Cruz shoots and misses
letting Emelianenko counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tito Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cruz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Emelianenko is fending him off so far but Cruz persists. Nope, Emelianenko circles away and we're back to standing.
Emelianenko's corner calls for a 1-2. Emelianenko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Zolar Emelianenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cruz dives in and grabs Emelianenko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes down on Cruz's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Emelianenko throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cruz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cruz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Emelianenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Cruz is rocked!
Cruz has his takedown stuffed
and Emelianenko counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Oh Cruz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big left from Emelianenko misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zolar Emelianenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Emelianenko counters with a crisp right that sends Cruz to the canvas! Emelianenko follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
