Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ritchie Blackmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elix Skipper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackmore kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sometimes My Opponent Feels Like Screaming. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackmore closes the distance but Skipper moves to the side

and Skipper counters with a nice double leg into guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Blackmore closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Skipper has Blackmore pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Skipper pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Blackmore tumbling to the mat - Skipper dives into Blackmore's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Skipper fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Blackmore avoids it really well and circles away.

Skipper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Blackmore's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Blackmore tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blackmore has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Skipper seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ritchie Blackmore.
Skipper takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Skipper moves into full mount! Blackmore won't be happy about that!

Skipper can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Blackmore is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ritchie Blackmore will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Blackmore jumps into guard, dragging Skipper to the mat.

Blackmore pushes Skipper off looking to stand but Skipper dives back in and keeps control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Elix Skipper hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Blackmore tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Skipper paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Blackmore counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Skipper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blackmore gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Blackmore drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Blackmore jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Skipper manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
BOOM! Skipper connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Skipper is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Blackmore can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Blackmore tries to hold on but Skipper pushes him away.

Skipper looking to control but Blackmore is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Skipper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Skipper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Elix Skipper.
I think Skipper has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
