The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orakpo fails with the takedown.
Slocum doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Orakpo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Orakpo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Orakpo controls from within his opponent's guard.
Orakpo advances to half guard.
Slocum won't allow Orakpo to pass to mount.
Orakpo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Let's hope that Orakpo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Slocum pushes Orakpo off looking to stand but Orakpo dives back in and keeps control.

Orakpo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Orakpo just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brian Orakpo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Orakpo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Slocum as he avoids it easily.

Orakpo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dick Slocum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Orakpo.
Slocum throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Slocum gets caught napping as Orakpo dives in and scores a takedown. Slocum manages to retain guard.
Slocum wants to sweep but no luck.
Slocum is breathing heavily.
Orakpo passes Slocum's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Orakpo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Orakpo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
