PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bartly Gorman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim McAllister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gorman's entrance music is The Hours - Ali in the jungle. A fine choice. The key to victory for Bartly Gorman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bartly Gorman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim McAllister!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McAllister shoots in and gets a takedown into Gorman's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gorman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McAllister looking to pass the guard.
McAllister wants to control from the top but Gorman keeps moving.
McAllister must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McAllister pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gorman is keeping the position for now.
Gorman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gorman takes a swing at McAllister's ribcage but misses.

and McAllister counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gorman won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McAllister is trying to ground and pound but Gorman uses the momentary lack of control by McAllister to regain half guard.
Gorman works his way to full guard. Good work.

McAllister is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

McAllister thows a big elbow that misses.
McAllister postures up in Gorman's guard and throws a big left but Gorman blocks it.
Gorman keeping moving, preventing McAllister from controlling successfully.
McAllister lands a couple of elbows.
Gorman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McAllister postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McAllister controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McAllister is looking to advance position but Gorman has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Gorman throwing strikes here but McAllister is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
McAllister regains half guard.
It looks like Gorman is going to stand back up.
McAllister controlling the position well.
Gorman seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gorman trying to control the action but McAllister is working from the bottom.
McAllister wants to control but Gorman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McAllister is not content to let Gorman control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bartly Gorman wasn't doing enough on the ground.
McAllister has his takedown stuffed
and Gorman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McAllister thinking.
McAllister thows a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim McAllister dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McAllister ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Gorman swings for the body but McAllister moves out of range.

McAllister dives in and scores a takedown into Gorman's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McAllister trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

McAllister wants to control from the top but Gorman keeps moving.
McAllister's corner is telling him to maintain position.
McAllister throws a big right hand that misses.
McAllister looking to pass the guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gorman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McAllister is controlling him.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McAllister slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gorman checks a leg kick nicely.

McAllister closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gorman's guard.
McAllister stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gorman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McAllister controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McAllister wants to control from the top but Gorman keeps moving.
McAllister wants to pass the guard but Gorman is keeping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McAllister trying to control but Gorman is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim McAllister showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



McAllister shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gorman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
McAllister controlling from the top position.
Gorman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McAllister throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gorman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gorman keeping moving, preventing McAllister from controlling successfully.
McAllister not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

McAllister is trying to control the action in half guard but Gorman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
McAllister takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
McAllister wants to pass the guard but Gorman is defending well.
Gorman is refusing to be controlled, as McAllister sits in half guard.
Bartly Gorman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jim McAllister is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jim McAllister.
McAllister fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gorman throws a jab but it's blocked by McAllister.
Gorman lands a two punch combo.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

McAllister misses with a jab to the body
enabling Gorman to counter with a crisp jab.
McAllister fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gorman misses with a looping right.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gorman checks a low kick from McAllister.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bartly Gorman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think McAllister has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
